Announcements from City Council, Districts 2 and 3

From the desk of District 2, Councilor Katherine Jordan, Inclement Weather Shelter Cleanup Day, Saturday, February 12, 10 to 12 PM

To be clear—we understand that a community clean up alone will not rectify the persistent trash accumulation issues that we have all witnessed recently. We are also working with DPW to maximize the City’s efforts to clean up accumulated trash, and we are in communication with CCC who is working hard to ensure that trash output is being minimized.

See below for more information on the cleanup:

Volunteers will meet up and receive supplies at the north end of the parking lot of the Quality Inn Hotel, located at 3207 N Arthur Ashe Blvd Richmond, VA 23230. Parking will be available.

  1. The cleanup will extend from where N Arthur Ashe and Hermitage intersect with Brookland Parkway, south down Arthur Ashe and Hermitage to Robin Hood Rd.
  2. We are partnering with Clean Sweep RVA to co-host the event on their page and assist with sharing information out to interested residents. You can find the event here (please share with your residents and on your social media!):
  3. The main point of contact for the event is Nettie Seagraves, the 2nd District appointee to the Clean City Commission. You can contact her at

From the Desk of District 3, Councilor Ann-Frances Lambert

Councilwoman Ann-Frances Lambert will be having a meeting with 3rd District Civic Associations.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 24th at 6:30pm.  She will be discussing her 2022 priorities and wants to get an update on your civic association’s 2022 priorities.  We hope that every civic association can be represented.  This meeting will be virtual.

GPRA Team Needs You!

Our Association runs on volunteer time, energy, creativity and leadership.

  • The GPRA Board has been fielding your concerns about crime that is impacting our neighborhood and about safety concerns related to trafffic.  We would like to develop a team of concerned neighbors from impacted areas of the neighborhood, which will include a Public Safety Chair, a position that is a member of the Board.  This team will connect with neighbors, develop strategies to address concerns, and work with the Board to partner with the appropriate City departments to resolve the issues. Interested:  contact Susan,
  • The GPRA Board position Secretary is open, and is a vital position.  The Secrretary is the record-keeper for the organization, takes minutes for Board and Membership Meetings, and archives important documents. Our processes for this position have been well-organized by Margee Smither, and an orientation will be provided. Contact Susan Rebillot, to discuss the position.
